Thinking Out Loud
Heave Ho!

February 11, 2015

The snow was endless, a heavy blanket on the outdoors; it had a way about it. A beauty. But I knew that, like many things, beauty could be deceiving.

February.

When the mind turns to Valentine's Day fragrant bouquets and chocolate.

When the days start getting a little longer and the hope of better weather around the corner begins to permeate the brain.

However, it is also the month when snow continues to fall and fall and fall...

And snow removal has become not just tedious, but mind-numbingly frustrating.

A necessary chore if one wants to leave their premises and receive mail, or do things like go to work and earn our living. But, oh we tire of the wet, salt-stained boots clogging the entranceway.

We slop shovels of heavy white stuff where there is no more room to place any.

We employ different methods of gauging the most opportune time to suit up and attack the onslaught of flurries. Wait until it's all said and done and the fat lady has sung, or get out there when it's falling and try to stay ahead of the game.

Neither method has ever proved to be a victorious game plan.

Ah February, you are a beautiful, wily little month to deal with. But, deal with you we shall.

We are Michiganders, after all.
