Wiz, Wack, Koehler, Briggs & Bodary Earn Paddleball Honors

3rd Annual Wack Attack City Paddleball Championship

It might be a new year but not much has changed on the local paddleball scene in Bay City

The 3rd Annual Bay City Paddleball tournament, for local bragging rights, was held recently at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA.

Not surprisingly, Bay County Sports Hall of Fame paddle ballers are still front and center when it comes time for trophy presentation.

The tournament (Bay City Wack Attack) is named after paddleball legend and Bay County Sports Hall of Fame (2001)inductee, Randy "WACK" Wackerle. The "Wack" was the first-ever paddleball player inducted into the Bay County Sports HOF.

Tournament Director for the competition is Mike "WIZ" Wisniewski. The "WIZ" was the first singles player to be inducted into the National Paddleball Association's (NPA) Hall of Fame in 2014. And . . . Wisniewski was also inducted into the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame that same year.

So it seems only fitting that "WIZ" won the 2015 "Open" division and "WACK" repeated in the "Over-The-Line" (Harry Neal Reference) Geezer Bracket.

Tournament Director, Mike Wisniewski reported the 2015 results as follows:

Open Division: Mike Wisniewski defeated Adam Koehler 21-19, 21-15

"A" Division: Adam Koehler defeated Scott Wittbrodt in a third game tie-breaker

"B" Division: Karl Briggs defeated Sean Herrera 21-11, 21-9

"C" Division: Thomas Bodary defeated Eric Knochel 21-9, 21-8

Over The Line Division: Randy Wackerle defended his 2014 Title with a 3-game tie-break (11-9, 7-11, 5-0) over Adam Koehler. Wackerle played 5 matches winning a total of eleven games to keep the title.
