Bring Your Boat, the Marina is Handy to the Outdoor Cafe

Expansive walkways on the riverfront will provide strolling space for visitors to the waterfront restaurant.

The marina at the Real Seafood Company is ready for the boating crowd to arrive.

Seldom in the history of the Saginaw Valley/Great Lakes Bay Area has a restaurant opening been oh-so grand!

Perhaps not since the opening of the Wenonah Hotel in 1908 has any business venture stirred such community pride and enthusiasm.

The gala opening is doing double duty as a fundraiser for the McLaren Bay Medical Foundation.

Tuesday the Mayor of Bay City, Christopher Shannon, ambassadors of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce resplendent in green jackets, the CEO of the restaurant firm, Michael Gibbons, and a gaggle of VIPs and VIP wannabes will crowd around.

The ribbon cutting by the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce will officially open the much-heralded restaurant at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the front entrance of the Real Seafood Co.

Persons seeking reservations for the VIP grand opening celebration at Real Seafood Co. should call (888) 456-3463 to make a dinner reservation for any time between 5 to 10 p.m., and also notify the foundation by calling (989) 895-4728 or by emailing Alysa.Matthews@mclaren.org.

The cost of this event is $100 per person (tax and tip included), with 60 percent of the ticket price to benefit the McLaren Bay Medical Foundation's Behavioral Health Campaign.

The new restaurant also is sure to bring many more visitors to the Uptown site, including out-of-towners who will be unaware this was where some of the world's largest cranes were built by the Industrial Works in the 19th and 20th centuries.

No doubt with the nice weather some boaters will park their craft in the handy marina that is ready for tie-ups on the Saginaw River in front of the restaurant.

Mayor Christopher Shannon and the chamber ambassadors will welcome Michael Gibbons, president and CEO of Mainstreet Ventures, and the Real Seafood Co. to the area.

The public can attend the outdoor ribbon cutting ceremony. The VIP celebration inside the restaurant requires tickets that can be obtained from the McLaren Foundation.

On Wednesday May 6 The Real Seafood Co. of Bay City opens to the public at 11 a.m.

The new facility has two levels of outdoor seating -- the upper mezzanine and lower level patio seating, with total outdoor seating capacity of more than 200 guests, overlooks the Saginaw River.

The indoor space features a main dining room, bar and lounge and a private dining room, with total indoor seating capacity of up to 250 guests. The outdoor space includes a patio bar with a fire pit and heated sidewalks.

More information can be found at www.realseafoodcobaycity.com. General reservations can be made at (888) 456-3463 starting Wednesday, May 6.
