The
Relay for Life Kick Off was recently held at the Bay City State Theater.
Cancer Survivors, caregivers or people interested in learning more about the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the Relay For Life were in attendance.
Food was available from downtown businesses, including Intermission Deli, B.A.R.T.S., The Sweet Boutique, Jimmy John's, World Café, Waterfront Market and State Street Lunch. Also, a special tower of birthday cupcakes was available for all of the survivors in attendance.
Bay County Will once again host its own Relay for Life on July 23, 24, 2011 and join forces with more than 5,000 other communities that will also be taking up the fight this year in support of the American Cancer Society's important work.
The event was a kick off for volunteers, teams and many more hands to push awareness of the Relay of Life event and will be spreading the word, forming teams, celebrating survivorship and raising funds.
The event celebrated cancer survivors birthday's of being cancer free. More than 11 million people who have heard the words, "You have cancer" are celebrating another birthday in large part because of Relay for Life.
The American Cancer Society is the nation's leader in the fight against cancer, the number one health concern facing Americans today. With the help of millions of Americans who share the passion for defeating this disease, they continue to make an impact on the lives of individuals throughout this community and many others.
