Special Olympics Plans Polar Plunge in Bay City!

It's that time of year again. Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI) and the Michigan Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) are holding their annual Bay City Polar Plunge at the at Dow Bay Area Family YMCA (225 Washington Ave) on Saturday, February 25, 2017

Known for the crazy costumes, matched only by crazier plungers, is a fundraiser for Special Olympics. Participants raise funds from contributors who sponsor their brave leap into the icy water. That money goes to providing free sports training, competition and health screenings for more than 23,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Michigan.

The annual Michigan Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Polar Plunge is the largest fundraiser for Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI), raising more than $1 million dollars each year.

Registration on the day of the event begins at 11:00 a.m. The parade of costumes begins at 11:45 a.m. followed by the plunge at noon. The awards and After Splash Bash will begin immediately following the plunge.

Special Olympics Michigan Inc. (SOMI) provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for 23,317 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
