The Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy along with 125 plus Dow volunteers and many hours of hard work, has provided a little slice of heaven off a well traveled road in Bay City, MI.

The Discovery Preserve is located just off S. Euclid Ave, tucked between Keit's Greenhouse and Division on Aging. It is the perfect place for peaceful nature stroll.

Butted up to a residential neighborhood, it seems an unlikely area for such a plethora of flowers, birds, butterflies and more. The swamp area is home to many waterfowl and the sound of the bullfrogs trumps the buzz of traffic just west of it.

Join the Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy on Friday, July 11th at 11:00 am for the official ribbon cutting. For a preview and a pictorial tour of just some of the beauty in the Preserve, scroll below.

Hi Dianne, is this a bike friendly place? And do you remember me?
diane Says:       On July 06, 2014 at 08:34 PM
Very bike friendly, I ride mine there all the time! And the name sounds very familiar, but I've met a lot of people in my travels and the memory isn't what it used to be:)

I'm another fan of this preserve. I've been going there for years... since the days when it was run by the city and called the Euclid Linear Park. There are lots of birds, a variety of habitats, and (my favorite) many type of insects for someone who looks closely.
