York Repair Inc., located at 611 Andre Street in Bay City recently celebrated 40 years in business.

Family, friends, community, and local dignitaries joined in the celebration with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony hosted by the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. An open house was held from 10am to 6pm with barbecue ribs and chicken and all the fixings, prepared by Meats and Moore.

Bay City Mayor Chris Shannon declared June 24th York Repair Day!

Owner, Frank York founded the business in 1971 -- in his garage with his wife Alice as his right hand and secretary. His first employee was Bob Lewis who is still with the company today.

In 1978, York Electric was incorporated and the next year purchased the current location with 6000 sq.ft. of building from businessman Art Dore.

More buildings were purchased over the next years to create the current capacity which is 80,000 sq.ft.

In 1993, York's son Jeff and son-in-law Kevin Krupp started working at York. In the next 5 years, the company acquired 25 motor management customers and had over 8,000 items in storage.

In 1998 the company became ISO Certified, and had their first asset Management Program in the year 2000.

In 2002, York's daughter, Danielle came to work for the company after graduating from SVSU with her accounting degree.

York began customer training classes and established their electronics lab in 2005.

In 2006, the Company changed their name to YORK REPAIR with 5 divisions: Electric, Motors, Industrial Repair, Servo, Electronics Lab and YAM.

An on-line store called RepairZone began in 2008 that sells new, repaired and exchange servo motors and industrial electronics nationally.

York's son Jade joined the York team in 2008 and the first of the 3rd generation, Dakota, started working in the summer. York Repair currently has 65 employees.

York, said, "I am very grateful for the dedication of the employees who work hard for the success of this company."
