ACES Players Have Hearts of Olympians

North East Little League Facility Hosts Annual Event

Over the last couple weeks, we have been hearing about athletes with courage, determination, perseverance and overcoming huge obstacles to compete in the Summer Olympics. Those same levels of character and effort in life are achieved every day by the players and families who are participating in the ACES program.

ACES, All Children Experience Sports, is finishing up this summer's softball program. The games are sponsored by DSRC and hosted by the fine folks of the North East Little League at their field. The smiles and pure joy of participating and competing is evidenced on everyone's face as the athletes enjoy a rigorous game of softball. Only Mother Nature has put a damper on the games as Tuesday's game was cut short by thunderstorms and Thursday's game was washed away.

Thursday's game was scheduled to have Lou E. Loon in attendance to help with the contest. Even though the game was washed away, Lou E. Loon showed so the players and their families who dared brave the monsoon weather could meet the famous mascot and get their picture taken with him.

As the Olympics comes to a close this weekend, so does the ACES Softball season. But for these athletes and their families, the courage and determination of life will forever keep them on the podium as they keep the Olympic spirit alive in their hearts.
