SAGINAW, MI - The buzz is back and it was louder than ever on College Night at Draper Auto Field during the Saginaw Sting's win over the Evansville Rage on Friday. Game 3 of the regular season was an uphill battle as the Sting continued their undefeated streak. When the dust finally settled, the end result was 72-29 in favor of the Saginaw Sting.

The first half of the game was spent trading scores with the Evansville Rage, until the end of the 2nd quarter, when the Sting seemed to get a burst of life. They ended the first half with a score of 38-21. Offense was once again on point throughout the game, with QB Tommy Jones tossing 5 touchdown passes to a couple different receivers and running one in on his own. Wide receiver Zach Nichols caught 4 of the strikes from Jones while Andrew Beaver had one as well. RB Keath Bartynski was able to cross the goal line with 2 scores of his own. The offensive line was able to protect their quarterback and not give up a single sack.

The Sting defense fought tooth and nail to stay ahead of the Rage and showed resilience throughout the game. Head Coach Fred Townsend said the keys to the game were to "get sacks on defense, be solid on special teams, and tackle well" and the Sting certainly picked up the pace in the second half. CJ Tarver contributed on defense with an interception as time wound down in the fourth quarter. The Sting also scored a safety on the opposing team.

Special teams for the Sting, although not as offensively sound as in previous games, did score some huge stops on key plays for the team. Several times, the Evansville Rage was caught up on their side of the field during kick returns and struggled to get away from the swarm of Sting players. CJ Tarver continued his special teams shine by running back a kickoff for a touchdown at the end of the third quarter.

Emotions ran high as the game was coming to a close. In fact, the referees ran out of flags to throw as penalties began to stack up and one Rage player was even ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The Sting will head out of town for their next challenge against the Chicago Vipers this Saturday, April 7th.

The following weekend the Sting travel to in-state rival Port Huron. A fan bus trip has been scheduled to depart the day of the game (Saturday April 14th at 3PM) and will include transportation, a ticket to the game and a $20 gift card to Hooters for the pregame party that will take place at Hooters in Port Huron at 5PM.
