A Lemonade Stand Is A Bad Business!

Every kid has gone into business by having a small lemonade stand in front of their house. Great idea!! Lots of money, opportunity to soak up some sun, make a little money and drink lemonade.

Kids can make a ton of money, whose gonna tell adorable little Johnny "NO!! I don't want to purchase your lemonade for $0.25!". Seriously . . . a freaking quarter? That's not enough.

The problem is the kid doesn't have any investment in the lemonade. So one day some little entrepreneur wannabe got his Mom & Dad to buy him some lemonade making supplies and decided to slap a price of 25 cents on it.

I don't need you to do the math for me to figure out this is a terrible business.

5 Pounds of Country Time Lemonade Drink Mix - $7.68 - Makes 100 cups.
Great Value Party 18 Oz Cups, 100ct - $6.53
5 Pounds of Pioneer Sugar - $5.59
Tablecloth to make little Johnnys warm lemonade appealing - $2.99
Bag of Ice - $2.00

Total Expenses little Johnny didn't see - $24.79

If by some miraculous happening little Johnny sells 100 friggin cups of warm lemonade, Johnny makes $25.00 and is over ecstatic at his sudden windfall.

Meanwhile.

You spent $25.

Teach little Johnny the hard lesson.

Let him spend all day working the lemonade stand to make $25. Show him your receipt for $24.79 and then take the money owed to you out of his makeshift shoe box cash register. Tell little Johnny it's actually illegal for him to sell lemonade on the side of the road without paying Uncle Sam his 6% and get him to pay $6.50 out of his piggy bank.

Then with the approaching, Bernie Sanders presidency make him take some to the neighbors because obviously it's their right to have some of your lemonade too.

In other news, stop by my house this weekend and enjoy some warm $3.00 lemonade from my 8-year-old son Brady.

Business is Business.
