Do-Care, a program of Do-All, Inc, is asking for emergency community support to fill the need for residents of Bay County.
Bay City, Michigan - The Do-Care Family Enrichment Center's Community ETC: Education Treasure Chest enters its 8th year with a record number of
requests for 2014. With over 1300 applicants, Do-Care, a program of Do-All,
Inc, is asking for emergency community support to fill the need for residents of Bay County.
Carrie Strohkirch, Do-Care Program Coordinator for the backpack campaign,
stated that requests are still coming in for backpacks and the program is short by approximately 400 backpacks to fill all of the requests.
"We have had an amazing outpouring of support for the program this year, but with the
overwhelming number of requests we are struggling to fill the need." The
average cost of each backpack, which is filled with school supplies such as
pencils, pens, paper, markers, crayons and erasers, is approximately $20 per
bag.
Distribution of the backpacks is planned for August 26 & 27, 2014, so
the need is imminent. Backpacks and school supplies can still be
dropped off at any Do-All location, including the Cat's Meow in Essexville
and the Cat's Meow - Downtown Bay City.
Financial donations can be
mailed to Do-All, Inc, 1400 S. Lincoln St, Essexville, MI 48732. Please
make sure to put Community ETC or Backpack Program in the memo.
All inquiries can be directed to Carrie Strohkirch, Do-Care Program
Coordinator, by phone at 989-894-0764 or email at
