The recent 'falling back' to Standard Time may have impacted your (and your children's) sleep cycles. According to one expert on sleep and insomnia, Colleen Carney, "even one poor night's sleep can lead to chronic insomnia".* A local author, Renee Frances, has penned a lovely story that may help young families get a better night's sleep!

"A Visit from the Good Night Fairy" by Renee Frances may help your 'reluctant sleeper' to look forward to sleeping through the night in his or her own bed. Using seemingly magical (but actually very concrete) strategies for banishing bedtime anxiety, this book is not only entertaining, but is practical as well. The tenderness and reassurance that is repeated by the words of the narrator and the actions of the Good Night Fairy provides a special coziness and comfort that can help reduce common bedtime fears. This clever and engaging tale unfolds with a typical night time routine, however, this night is special because, after waking up early and finding her child still in his own bed, Mommy has a chance encounter with the "Good Night Fairy" herself, who places a small gift at the foot of the still-sleeping child's bed!

The best loved children's tales are those that can be enjoyed on different levels by different ages of readers. They speak to children in a whimsical, fantastical way that is not too fluffy for parents to enjoy, and they resonate for parents by reflecting real life without being boring to kids. This book has accomplished that delicate balance. Carefully crafted with a familiar and soothing cadence that children love, and with vocabulary that is not overly simplistic nor too complex, "A Visit from the Good Night Fairy" will be enjoyed night after night, by young and old alike, throughout the year.

Join Renee Frances at Barnes and Noble, Saginaw (3311 Tittabawassee Rd., Saginaw, MI) on Thursday, November 20th at 6:30p.m. and again on Saturday, November 22nd at 2p.m. Renee is excited to share "A Visit from the Good Night Fairy" with audience members as they "Discover What Barnes and Noble has to Offer"! During her interactive story time session(s), Renee engages children in a dialogue about the importance of a good night's sleep, their favorite parts of their bed-time routine, any fears they might have about night time and what they do to quell those fears, and sing some favorite lullabies. An extension craft activity is available for "crafty" kids and coloring sheets are available for younger participants! This is a great opportunity to have your copy of "A Visit from the Good Night Fairy" personalized by Renee Frances!

"A Visit from the Good Night Fairy" is available for sale at Barnes and Noble, Saginaw as well as on amazon.com. Contact Renee at goodnightfairy@gmail.com to schedule an appearance at your child's school, your next playgroup, or other family-oriented event! "Give your child the gift of the Good Night Fairy, have the gift of a good night's sleep."
