Trinity Episcopal Church continues its Evensong Series with Contemplative Evensong on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. to celebrate The Confession of St. Peter the Apostle. Evensong is made up of organ music, hymns, scripture readings, prayers, psalms, canticles and an anthem. The church will be dimly lighted and will use candles and icons to create the atmosphere for sung prayer.

Soprano Rayechel Berger will sing the service and Nicholas Schmelter will be the organist. Berger is the soprano section leader at Trinity and Schmelter is Artist in Residence. The canticles will be the "Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis" by Philip Moore (b. 1943) and the anthem is "The God of Love" by Eric Thiman (1900-1975). The appointed Psalm is Psalm 23 sung to Gregorian Psalm Tone VIII.I

Organ music will include "Stunde der Weihe" by M. Enrico Bossi (1861-1925) and "Chorale on Lead, Kindly Light" by Robert Hebble (b. 1934).

Hymns that are sung by the congregation are "How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds" (St. Peter) by Alexander Robert Reinagle (1799-1877), "To the Name of Our Salvation" (Oriel) by Caspar Ett (1788-1847), and "The King of Love My Shepherd Is" (Dominus regit me) by John Bacchus Dykes (1823-1876).

Other participants include The Rev. Susan Rich, officiant; Jett Whitehead, acolyte; and Mary K Freel and Maureen Leibrand, lectors.

The service is open to the public free of charge. Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 815 N Grant Street on the corner of Grant and Center Avenue. Barrier-free access is from the church parking lot on Fifth Street behind the church. Friends of Music will host a reception in the Guild Room following the service.
