River -- Our beautiful Golden Retriever and died Friday.

We are devastated.

After a bath at about 330pm on Friday, April 11, she walked out into the sunshine and laid down.

And died.

My wife, Donna, found her when she went out to brush her. Friday was such a beautiful Michigan spring day.

So tragic!

River was five in March .

For everyone that knew and enjoyed River's joyous life . . . I will just say there was never any indication that anything was wrong.

We had an autopsy done but nothing was found. Vet said possible brain aneurism or seizure because there was no bleeding anywhere.

Donna cries all the time. I cry when I talk about it. I'm sure this will pass with time.

River fished with me for 5 years on the Pere Marquette. She so enjoyed the water, the fish, the people and the outdoors. I can't even imagine a Pere Marquette float-trip without her.

I know that River never had a bad day in her short lifetime. I'm sad that she's gone and angry because we loved her so much. But I know she had a wonderful life and she had a good friend in so many of you.

All dogs go to heaven.

We could all learn much from the life that River spent with us.

I am so sorry for your loss. We lost our Scottish Terrier, Murphy, in May of 2013; he was almost 12 years old. I agree WE - as human beings - can learn much from dogs - especially about unconditional LOVE!

Memories are great, but the hurt you're feeling now is real. Thanks be to God for River's time in your life. I do believe I will walk again with Murphy in Heaven. Prayers for your healing; prayers for River's soul.

I was crying when reading your story about River. Pray you won't be crying as long as I did when our Tipper (black lab) died three years ago. We got our Buddy, another black lab, within four days of Tipper's passing. There's nothing like your 90-pound black lab following you around with his nose up your butt.

My thoughts are with you O.J. I have lost a few dogs over the years but none so suddenly. I'm sure that dog had the best life possible.
Agree? or Disagree?
