Sunday -- A Beautiful Day Ruined by Fantasy Football

Damn . . . This is exhausting

Before this year, it was "normal" (for me) to be disappointed as I watched the Lions flounder every week to their annual 8-8 W/L record on Fox TV.

When the Lions' game was over, I could get on with my day.

But now, I'm playing Fantasy Football. Now . . . I'm disappointed all the time ... about every game . . . all day on Sunday . . . often, right up to final whistle of the late game.

And every Thursday and Monday too.(Night.)

In previous years, I fretted only about Stafford, Megatron and Suh.

It was simple. I could easily concentrate all of my frustration one game.. . onto the players wearing Detroit's Honolulu Blue. Focusing on the obvious problems was easy.

Not anymore.

Now I've got more and greater concerns . . . and, it's a long list that continues to get longer.

I toss and turn through the night as the weekend approaches . . . worried about Jamall Charles'(KC) high ankle sprain, Carson Palmer's (ARI) shoulder nerve pain. It's gotten so bad, I tried www.whitepages.com to find Jamaal's phone number (at midnight two weeks ago Saturday) so that I could call Jamaal, tell him about my concerns and ask him how his ankle was doing for this week's game.

Did you notice?

I'm calling my Fantasy players by their first names. Everybody in our league does that. We're all very close with our players. We think about them day and night.

Jay Cutler (CHI)? . . . Don't even go there. I'm always sweating over the erratic Cutler. I don't even like Jay but he's playing on my Fantasy team because Carson Palmer is hurt. Why do I have Jay on my Fantasy Team? Because he was by far the best QB available in the 6th round of my Fantasy draft.

I wanted Stafford as my #1 and the "experts" said I could wait . . . guaranteeing that he would be available in the 4th or 5th round. So I took (PIT) Antonio Brown and then (NYG) Victor Cruz for their wide-receiver point potential . . .

Cuz Stafford would be certainly be available as late as the 5th round. The "experts" promised.

LIARS!

So I was left with Carson Palmer and then grabbed Cutler in a later round.

Jamaal was my first round pick. When he missed the first two games because of his ankle injury, my team tanked to an 0-2 start.

Jamaal came back and my record improved to 2-2 as Michael Floyd (ARI), Cutler, Cruz, Brown, Denver's Special Teams and even my Baltimore Kicker started to produce consistent points.

And then the bottom fell out.

Tight End Kyle Rudolph went down. Stevan Ridley got a bad leg. They joined Palmer and the hobbled Jamaal on the bench. Fact is, most of the players on my Fantasy team bench are hurt. But I got just enough healthy bodies to field a team for this Sunday.

Point is . . . I miss the leisurely pace of Sundays gone by ...of just watching the Lions.

Gotta get the chips and dip ready for Giants - Philadelphia match-up tonight.

I got Victor Cruz in the game for the Giants. If Victor posts a 10 point night, I win my game this week and even my record at 3-3.

At halftime, I have to remember to check the Player List to see if there might be a backup quaterback for week nine when Cutler and the Bears are on a "BYE" week.

Damn. . . This is exhausting.

Sure am glad there's an APP for that.
