We saw "A Wrinkle In Time."

I loved the book. I read it many years ago and always meant to read it again but never got around to it. So I was thrilled when I heard it was being made into a movie.

It did not reach my expectations. I really wanted it to. It came close.

The story revolves around Meg, played very well by Storm Reid. She is a brilliant middle schooler. Her father, played by Chris Pine, mysteriously disappeared four years earlier. She has a little brother, Charles Wallace, played by Deric McCabe.

He is approached by 3 entities, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which played by Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and Oprah Winfrey. Meg, her friend Calvin (played by Levi Miller) and Charles Wallace leave with the Mrs.s to enter the Tesseract, which is a fifth dimension that connects the Universe, to go find her father.

The movie is full of color. It is also full of child empowerment. It's a good story for young people. I'm sure they would feel the call of "be a warrior." However, I was bored and disappointed. I wanted more.

The 3 Mrs.in were not what I expected. Mrs. Whatsit was too flighty. Mrs. Who used quotes for words. Mrs. Which was Oprah.

If you have a young person, by all means, take them. If you don't and just want to go because you loved the book, you may be disappointed too.

So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
