Another View of the FIREWORKS
With all the great phone cameras today, not to speak of the super quality "real" cameras, there's no lack of Bay City Fireworks photos on the internet. Just check social media; Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and all the others. Fireworks everywhere. And many are really good shots and videos!
MyBayCity.com has traditionally done a story or two, and our share of photo spreads, on the annual 3-night event. In the last few years, we've changed our approach a little. Rather than go to the river for shots showing all the boats and buildings, and the carnival and the people, we've started looking for less frequented viewing locations. (Even my attic window.)
Although the river is certainly the best spot for the best view, people can be found on every schoolyard and park for several miles surrounding downtown.
The ideal view is from a large open area with no close trees. This year we tried McKinley school on the Westside. It was about a mile and a half (straight line) to the fireworks. Sitting on the north-west corner of the grounds, with about 20 other people, we had a good view over the line of trees on the far side.
So, here's a batch of our pictures from that vantage point. Enjoy.
