"The Intern" is a very good movie. Fun, genuine and not too predictable. The writer and director, Nancy Meyers, has been involved either writing or directing "It's Complicated", "The Holiday" and "What Women Want" among others. She has a good handle on what makes a good story.
The movie is about a bored, retired widower seeking something to keep himself occupied. Anne Hathaway, a wife and mother, is a brilliant, overworked founder of a very successful internet based clothing company. These two meet when her company launches a "senior intern" program.
It's a feel-good movie that is very well written, directed and acted. Robert DeNiro is great, as is Anne Hathaway, Rene Russo and Linda Lavin. The actors playing fellow workers at the company do a very nice job rounding out the cast.
I will probably see it a second time with a different group of friends.
So you go too. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
