"Yesterday." What a great "feel-good" movie.
You may already know the basic plot, but here it is anyway. A young street musician, who hasn't quit his day job, gets hit by a bus while riding his bike. It happens because suddenly all of the lights go out all over the world for about 10 seconds. When he wakes up in the hospital he is a mess but will live. He wise cracks a quote from a Beatles song to his friend and they don't get it. He soon finds the Beatles never existed in this new reality.
The acting is very good. The young man, Himesh Patel, who plays the musician Jack Malik is very talented. He does all of his own singing and playing of the guitar and piano. Lily James plays his friend and manager, Ellie. Ed Sheeran plays himself and is a good addition. I really want to get the soundtrack.
A friend went and saw it and totally loved it too. I'm not sure if it will be nominated for anything but I recommend you see it. The story is great, the music is great, and it will make you feel good.
So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
