BACF NAMES FONG: Saginaw Non-Profit Executive to Succeed Eileen Curtis

Diane M. Fong is the new president-CEO of the Bay Area Community Foundation.
 

After 10 years of leadership by Eileen A. Curtis, the Bay Area Community Foundation (BACF) Board of Trustees has named Diane M. Fong as the organization's next President & CEO.

Curtis will retire December 15 after having grown the assets of BACF from $27 million to more than $36 million.

"After an extensive search process, we are delighted to have Diane join our organization," stated Rich Milster, chair of BACF's Board of Trustees. "She has an extensive background in nonprofit management and will be an active participant in the Bay and Arenac communities. Diane joins a dynamic and thriving team of professionals working to strengthen the Foundation through donor philanthropic partnerships."

Fong holds a Master's of Public Administration and a Bachelor's of Public Affairs from Wayne State University. Prior to her ten years as director of Pulse3 Foundation, Fong was previously a project manager for The Conservation Fund in Bay City, the strategic development director of Mid-Michigan Children's Museum, and executive vice president at Saginaw Community Foundation.

She has served on organization boards including the Saginaw Community Foundation finance committee, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan community advisory council, and the Hidden Harvest board of directors.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to build upon the legacy of caring that the donors, community partners, volunteers and staff of the Bay Area Community Foundation have established over the last 35 years," stated Fong. "Together, we will continue these good works. I want everyone to realize that the ability to be a philanthropist lies within each of us. Philanthropy is a big word for a simple concept -- caring about others. The residents of Bay and Arenac counties have proven time and time again that they care about their community and their neighbors. I look forward to calling Bay County my home."

Curtis said, "The Foundation's growth has only been possible through the generosity of our many donors." She looks forward to traveling and spending extra time with her family, and she has great confidence in her successor.

"I am confident that Diane's leadership will further BACF's vision to improve the overall quality of life throughout our community," Curtis said. "I am extremely proud of the Foundation's efforts to bring about community change to break the cycle of poverty through education and look forward to following along with the Foundation's continued success and growth for the future."

Fong has been the CEO of Pulse3 Foundation in Saginaw for the past 10 years. The organization's goals are to improve cardiovascular health in Michigan -- with a focus on the Great Lakes Bay Region;

-- Increase the public's knowledge and understanding of heart-healthy lifestyles,

and increase healthcare professionals -- and first responders' knowledge of prevention, diagnosis and treatment techniques and technology

-- Create a strong community response system that brings together people with lifesaving training, equipment and technology and information to reduce response time and save lives

Pulse3 foundation's programs include the Run for Your Heart Fitness and Wellness Program, Run for Your Heart Community Races, Shocks & Saves alert system for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator emergencies, deployment of AED units in the community, CPR/ AED training, community education programs, college scholarships and continuing education programs for healthcare professionals.
