Mr. Rogers,

Will your address be broadcast or recorded and available?

My father was a DE sailor and an active member of DESA. [Robert S. Garnett, Va., 1910-1997; DE-409 LaPrade, 1944-45.]

One of his favorite DESA stories:

Dad was Storekeeper. As paymaster, he limited disbursements to $2 a week, both because there was little to buy on board and to reduce pots in poker games.

At his first DESA convention, he walked into the hall an looked around to see who he might recognize. Suddenly, a face met his and the voice behind it cried, "There's that bald son of a bitch who wouldn't let me have but two dollars!"

The Patrol Craft Sailors Association (PCSA) selected the Bay County Historical Society to be the home of its national archives a number of years ago.

The Museum, next door to City Hall, has a large collection of records and artifacts. There is a permanent exhibit as well as a video documentary in both the exhibit area and in the theater.

Yet another historical find.....Did not know the details regarding the Defoe Shipbuilding company that use to be next to St Laurence brothers candy factory. I was wondering if you know the roll United Welders played during this era ?. Keep it up dad.....and by the way "Happy Fathers Day" as well.
