"The BUZZ" - Read Feedback From Readers!

When is Rock music not Rock music? When its a "Folk" song by Simon and Garfunkel? When its a "Pop" song by AJ and Allie? When its an original HipHop/Rap? Great performances maybe but: Its not Rock and Roll to me!!
When is it ok to change the order in which the contestants have signed up to sing? Its never ok to me!! But, thanks for getting rid of the warm ups!!

Since you (the judges) gave the rap group such a hard time for doing something the old people can't understand of cross genring music lol, then why don't the judges change the 4th free week to a rap/hiphop week?

Bet they won't do that now will they!?

Joe Atchinson song by Sether wasnt' the best song sung last night, but how can the judges not call Sether rock? I'm sorry the judges are saying that Sether isn't rock, calling Simon & Garfunkel rock when they're folk, and taking an original mix of Van Halen and rap not rock itself? These judges aren't qualified to be judging music because they are showing very little musical knowledge and background.

When that girl who performed the song by AC/DC the judges have replied three times that her performances are flawless and perfect. Those statements quite frankly are laughable because her voice distorts when she forces her vocals. There is such thing as forcing or over powering the music.

Plus, how could the judges compliment the time her guitar player took to COPY, yes COPY, an UN-ORIGINAL song that AC/DC originally composed. At least some of the performers produce their own tracks.

At least the judges should give credit where credit is due and not over look the obvious; Leave the listeners going, "What are those three thinking?" and making their judgement sounding mediocre.

This voting is ridiculous. It has no bearing on how talented someone is, it only shows who knows more people that have computers. The least talented person or people could win the vote!! I don't have a computer and I can't get to the shows either!

Just an FYI, Gramma . . . We pass out ballots at the Stables every Wednesday night so that the people at the performances can vote -- whether they have a computer or not. And . . . we all know it's not scientific . . . And . . . the judges have the final say in who wins. (The Online voting just helps the judges make the decision)

I would like to point out as a singer in this competition that some of the music that was picked by singers on Wednesday night is mostly rock. Aly and Aj is in the genre of pop rock, Simon and Grafunkel is in the genre of folk rock. It is not as easy as people think it is to get up there and do what we do. As for the Rap/Hip-Hop group they are VERY creative and very talented there performance was a CROSS OVER performance!

Warning!!! This comment is brutally honest, so don't read it or respond to it if you can't handle the truth!

I think people need to quit their whining. Honestly, when the category is rock, the judges are expecting rock. Not rap, not pop rock, not folk rock. In my opinion, 4 out of the 14 did not choose a "rock" song. Sure, you have to give them credit for getting up in front of people, but come on. This is a talent competition. If you can't handle the heat, you don't belong up there...and you certainly will not be able to perform in front of thousands of people at the Pig Gig. Also, I would like to point out that there are so many rock songs from so many decades, that the point is mute for contestants to complain that they did not have enough songs to choose from. No one is saying that you are not original or that you're not talented...just take it for what it's worth...you did not follow the instructions and choose a song from the correct genre, and everyone there noticed it. That being said...next week is country week. I expect to hear all country music. If you can't sing a country song, don't whine on here when the judges are critical about your performance.

hey I posted a comment about the Competation, and as usal it didn't get posted because I guess I told the truth and damn if the truth don't hurt I do also believe that this thing at the Stables is a set up because as I stated Geno has more talent in him thean any of the others but when you go and bring in people like Drew Brady who everyone knows fronts local bands who is a professional and you put him in on this it's not even fair to the rest of the people and Alto's the other pro. So I ask you once again is this not fixed or what?
GreenDog says:       On July 16, 2008 at 12:09 AM
Hey Badass, I don't even have Geno in my top 5. He's a great harmonica player. But everybody doesnt like harmonica. Last lady harmonica player got really mad too when she didnt make finals.
mustanggirl says:       On July 18, 2008 at 06:41 AM
Just a general comment to badassharmonicaplyr:
Drew Brady is not a "professional" by any means. He was a singer for a local high school band. And quite honestly, I don't think he's anything special. I think he's been outsung in this competition by many, and I don't really care for his performances.
kaylajo10 Says:       On July 20, 2008 at 02:57 AM
I think Drew is a great performer. It's great to see someone up there that's comfortable singing in front of people! I give Drew a lot of credit for giving it his all each time he performs.

Geno -- I posted this recent comment of yours (accusing ME of fixing the voting) just to allow your point of view to be heard one last time. Geno . . . LET's GET A FEW THINGS STRAIGHT -- (1) It's my newspaper and I have no personal interest in ANY of the contestants. (2) It's my computer code and it's not rigged or fixed. And I am totally insulted by YOU and your accusations and insinuations toward me that the voting is fixed. (3) I have not posted many of your comments in the past because they contained abusive language, were insulting to the judges, to the Stables management and to me, Julie and Marlo. (4) You've had your say now . . . and that should be it. (5) I won't post any more of your comments on MyBayCity in the future. (No Matter What the Topic) (6) And lastly, I wonder just how many of the 15 contestants think the online voting is fixed. Next Wednesday, I would appreciate any comments from the competitors concerning this topic. (And finally, for the record, I really do like you personally and love your passion for your music. But I won't sit by and be called a cheater by you or anyone)
