"The BUZZ" - Read Feedback From Readers!

Interesting article! However, one item of note, the comment about Congress's reluctance to support a war is really irrelevant considering that all the wars that we have been involved with since
WWII have been conducted without a formal "Declaration of War" by Congress.

Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 of the United States Constitution, also sometimes referred to as the War Powers Clause, vests in the Congress the exclusive power to declare war, in the following wording: To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

This stated, a sitting President doesn't need the blessing of Congress to get involved in a conflict as long as they can do it through the UN and/or NATO. The Korean, both Gulf and Afghanistan conflicts are all examples of this method of usurping Congress and the Constitution (Vietnam was never "officially" declared a war by Congress either but was instead classified as an "armed conflict").

By the nature of our membership agreements in both organizations, any enforceable relevance Congress or the Constitution have regarding war where these treaties and alliances are concerned, doesn't exist! Until we end our involvement with these organizations (which will probably never happen), we are essentially required to "defend" and "Protect" our allies regardless of our sovereign wishes.

Make no mistake that the timing of Russia's incursion into Georgia is no coincidence since Georgia was very close to joining NATO. The scary thing is, if the Russian's would have attacked Georgia after their NATO membership took place, the US, by NATO agreement, would have been absolutely bound and required to go to war with Russia to defend it's Georgian ally...right in Russia's own backyard! That scenario would probably result in nuclear war.

Additionally, you can bet that we will probably be involved in some form in a conflict with Iran sometime in the near future! It's interesting that this administration is arrogantly spouting the same mantra they used to go into Iraq...weapons of mass destruction, nuclear arms...etc., even though, like Iraq, Iran denies that they are enriching Uranium. Based on the fact that we were so blatantly lied to by our own leaders in the first war, who are we to believe now? Will "WE" buy it again if we do attack?

It really doesn't matter anyway since the "coalition" is falling into place and even if the American people reject war, the UN (or Israel) will be the point of entry. If we protest and unrest ensues, thanks to the new powers provided to him through the Patriot Act, our President will simply declare Marshall Law and that will be that!

Sadly, at this stage of our history, since the American people choose to be either uninformed or indifferent to our ruling elite's gross abuse of their power and the conflicts of interest they've used to enrich themselves through the massive "Military Industrial Complex" they've created (i.e. Chaney/Halliburton, George Schultz/Bechtel, George H.W. Bush, James Baker, David Rubenstein/Carlyle Group, Donald Rumsfeld, George Schultz/Gelead, etc. etc. etc.), we are probably going to be in continuous conflicts until "WE" decide we've had enough and hold these people accountable!

Let's face it, many of our sons and daughters are dying everyday while these elitists get richer and richer from the spoils of the wars that they create! And, for the most part, we still choose to believe that they have our best interests at heart and we should trust them to protect us! What a pile of crap!
They have done nothing more than perpetuate the gradual demise of our great country as we know it! Shame on us for allowing this!

It would be interesting to see an investigative report from you addressing these very issues. In my opinion, that would be extremely informative and eye-opening to many of your readers.

At any rate, no matter who we get next term, expect more of the same! It's the new American way! How sad!

TY
