Beautiful Weather Brings Hundreds To Frankenmuth For Final Day Of Snowfest

For the past 17 years, Zehnder's of Frankenmuth has showcased the popular Snowfest event. Featuring International and United States snow carving, the State of Michigan snow sculpting competition, professional ice carving and U.S. National Collegiate Carving, Frankenmuth has something for everyone to enjoy this time of year!

Snowfest 2008 had many highlights including Christian Family Night, Country Night, Oldies Day, children's activities such as a petting zoo, hot air balloon rides and a spectacular fireworks display!

Sponsored by the Michigan Apple Committee, Pioneer Sugar and WSGW, the 3rd annual Apple Pie Contest was a "smashing" success. The winner will represent Michigan at the National Pie Contest in Florida in April 2008. This years 1st place winner was Fred Burns from Sparta MI featuring "My Father's Apple Pie".

New this year to the Snowfest event was the Dueling Piano Luncheon held on Thursday January 24th. Guests enjoyed the Dueling Piano entertainment and the famous Zehnder's 2-piece chicken dinner. Other musical guests for the event included The Sauce Cats, CEYX and the Rich Eddy Band.

Sunday, the last main day of Snowfest 2008 brought out the sunshine and hundreds of Snowfest lovers to view the finished snow and ice sculptures. The horse driven carriage rides were many on this bright and sunny day. The Frankenmuth Jaycee's sponsored the ever popular "Frozen Chicken Bowling" competition which was in full swing Sunday afternoon.

Monday, January 28th, Frankenmuth will be a "buzz" once again for the 16th annual Chef's Hot Food Competition & Tasting event, "Blackbeard's Bounty". Held from 6-9p.m., a Caribbean quest for culinary gold will be featuring Curried Goat, Jerk Chicken, Squid, Frisee, Barbacoa, Pirates Fish Stew and Whole Roasted Pig.
