St. James Parish Has Dedication of Their Newly Constructed Langley Hall!

St. James Catholic Church Celebrates The Addition Of Social Hall

A Dedication Ceremony of the newly constructed Langley Hall was celebrated Sunday at St. James Catholic Church as parishioners converged after mass to get their first sight of facility.

St. James Catholic Church paid tribute not only to their new facility, but to Norbert and Elizabeth Langley for their monetary donation which made this facility possible. The Langley Family has been members of of St. James Church since the early 1900's. Each of the children Norbert, Elizabeth, Mabel, Vern and Jane (Debo) all were graduates of St. James High School and continue to support their parish.

The celebration included Bishop Robert J. Carlson, Fr. Bob DeLand pastor of St. James and Fr. Andy Booms, associate pastor of St. James. Previous pastors at St. James that where in attendance included Fr. Joe Ryan, Fr. Jack Johnson and Fr. Pete Gaspany.

The new 8,000sq. ft. social hall is attached to the church and included the purchase and demolition of buildings on Columbus Ave. The construction of the social hall was completed by Bronner Construction Company out of Frankenmuth. The architect was Ken Lemiesz from Wigen, Ticknell & Meyer and a member of St. James Church.

This social hall includes a foyer and kitchen that will be used for several activities at the church and additional parking was added at the church for convenience.

Guest speakers at the celebration included Michael Debo, administrator of the Langley Family; Rep. Dale Kildee, US House 5th District; State Rep. Jeff Mayes, 96th House District and Charles Brunner, Mayor of Bay City.

The Langley family and St. James Parish would like to send a special thank you to the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce for their ribbon cutting portion of the ceremony.
