"Banding together for a better community"

Last week, my son Caleb was fortunate enough to be the first recipient from the DStreet Entertainment Foundation Bandwagon program! DStreet Entertainment Foundation's mission is to assist musicians and artists of every age, race and gender in the development of their education, promotional skills and performances.

The DStreet Foundation exists to promote and support music, art and entertainment in our communities. They strive to improve opportunity and visibility for not only those who are practicing musicians or artists, but also to encourage and support those who dream of doing so like my son Caleb.

In an effort to promote opportunity, and encourage participation in music, DStreet is promoting a new program called "Bandwagon". This program aims to provide an access to musical instruments and/or equipment by utilizing donated property from present and former musicians. Think of it as a sort of a "instrument library" for musicians.

DStreet collects instruments from various donors and organizations and then qualifies them for their respective conditions, in terms of functionality and appearance. The Bandwagon program then assigns them to interested and qualified applicants. DStreet makes every attempt to ensure that the instruments are assigned in some prioritized order based upon need. The focus of this program, after all, is to promote musical interest for those who otherwise might not be able to afford it.

"DStreet was excited to be able to get this trombone in the hands of a student who will use it in our community," said Bandwagon Director, Kim Walden. Walden added, "Our mission supports music programs for youth and adults. The donations of used instruments or cash will be used to support these goals throughout mid Michigan."

As a single mother, a brand new Trombone was not in the budget this year, this program came through and made my son's dreams come true! Thank you to all who are involved with making this program a reality and available to those who truly have an appreciation for music. I would like to personally thank Dennis Beason and Kimberly Walden for all that they have done for my son!

Caleb is a sixth grader at CMMS and prior to this donation, was utilizing a Trombone owned by the school. Thank you to Music Instructor, Mr. Lull who informed us of the Bandwagon program!
