Recently the Leadership Bay County Class of 2009 held a silent auction at the Doubletree Hotel at the annual Chamber of Commerce Meeting and Awards dinner. MyBayCity.com Coverage of Annual Chamber of Commerce Meeting

Numerous local businesses donated products and services to the silent auction which will assist in the funding of their Leadership class project: "Plant a Seed, Grow a Community." MyBayCity.com along with it's subsidiaries MyTriCityNews.com and the Tri City Buzz Television show were proud to be an integral part of this program for the Class of 2009, donating $7,800.00 to the cause! The silent auction raised $9,100.00 in total.

"This community project is something we are proud to be a part of this year. The Leadership program through the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce has definitely made an impact on present and future business professionals throughout our county. In our present economic state, our region must rely upon young professionals to continue the growth of new business to the area, that, is something we will always support," said President & CEO of O.J. Advertising Inc., O.J. Cunningham.

"Plant a Seed, Grow a Community" is inspired by the idea that the exterior appearances of our community schools reflect the value we place on them to potential residents, employers and most importantly, our children.

Community businesses and organizations can impact that perception by "adopting" local schools and assisting with school beautification projects, like planting flowers and trimming shrubs.

It is such a very simple concept, yet planting a seed can grow a community in the most amazing ways!

This year's Leadership class will be hosting a "School Beautification Week" May 11th through the 17th, where they will be showcasing the kickoff of their project.
