The Friends of Celtic Culture, a Michigan Non-Profit Corporation of Great Lakes Bay Region residents dedicated to the promotion of the arts of the Seven Celtic Nations, is proud to open St. Patrick's Month 2010 with the New York City-based band the Prodigals.

The date is March 6, 2010 and the place is the State Theatre, 913 Washington Avenue, Bay City, Michigan. The Saturday concert begins at 7:30 p.m. with the doors opening at 6:30.

$20 tickets are available at the State, 989-892-2660 and the FCC website, www.friendsofcelticculture.org . Tickets are also available at the door the night of the concert, and there will be adult beverages for sale.

The Prodigals are one of the most successful bands to emerge from the East Coast Irish music scene. The band members largely grew up in Ireland; their original songs blend a funky anarchic energy that is pure New York with a genuine passion for the traditional music of Ireland.

They have played throughout the United States, from Los Angeles and Las Vegas to Chicago, Boston and Maine, as well as Canada, Germany and Ireland, but they remain firmly rooted in Manhattan.

The Irish Times says, "The Prodigal's Big Apple cockiness fused with traditional tunes is New York's answer to the Pogues. Gregory Grene's accordion calls many of the shots, fueled by the kind of percussive force that NASA would pay dearly for."

Combining all this ferocity with Grene are Ed Kollar on bass, Dave Fahy, guitar and vocals, Chris Higginbottom, drums, and Darren Maloney on the banjo. So all we can say is, "Get ready people of the Tri-Cities; St. Patrick's Month is ready to roar!!"
