Saginaw, Mich. - There were 7,262 reports of child abuse to the Saginaw County Department of Human Services last year. More than 1,000 of those cases were substantiated.
In an effort to end to child abuse in Saginaw County, CAN Council will host its 18th Annual Auction from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, at Apple Mountain, 4519 N. River Rd. in Freeland.
"This exciting Mardi Gras-themed event helps prevent child abuse and neglect in your community," said Suzanne Greenberg, CAN Council president and CEO. "You can help make a difference in the life of a child."
Tickets cost $50 per person and include strolling dinner, gourmet hors d'oeuvres, and admission to the silent and live auctions. Raffles and games will take place throughout the evening for prizes including sporting event tickets, jewelry, wine and more.
"If you can't attend, consider donating items to be auctioned," Greenberg said. "We also encourage local businesses to join the fight against child abuse by becoming an event sponsor."
Proceeds support child abuse prevention, intervention and advocacy programs, including Baby Think It Over, For Kids Sake, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and the Children's Advocacy Center. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 989-752-7226, visit CANCouncil.org or follow the organization on Facebook at facebook.com/cancouncil.
