5th Annual Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI) kicks off this Wednesday, July 24th
Bay County Habitat for Humanity's 5th Annual Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI) kicks off this Wednesday, July 24th and runs through Saturday, July 27th. Habitat volunteers will be working on 15 various community and residential projects throughout the week. Projects include building and repairing porches and ramps, painting, and landscaping.
The effort is part of Habitat's A Brush with Kindness program, which helps low-income homeowners preserve and improve their homes by providing painting, landscaping, weather stripping, and minor repair services. The program assists struggling residents as they work to reclaim their homes with pride and dignity. A Brush with Kindness is part of Habitat's broader community development strategy, which helps rebuild communities as well as families.
2013 Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative is sponsored by Chemical Bank, The Dow Chemical Company, JC Penney, Lowe's, State Farm Insurance, and United Way of Bay County. The event is also made possible due to the support and donations of products and services from many other local businesses and organizations.
Habitat for Humanity has a great crew of volunteers scheduled for the week but has plenty of work for more. Interested volunteers can contact the Bay County Habitat office at 989-895-0980 to register or can sign-in between 8-8:30 am daily at the Dow Tent at 519 Washington Ave (Dunlop Building). Free t-shirts and lunch will be provided to all volunteers.
