Flashback 1978
Bay City Tire and Battery "Bikini Walk"

BAY CITY'S FINEST PARADE AT 2ND ANNUAL BIKINI WALK - PATRICIA KELLEY WALKS OFF WITH $50 FIRST PRIZE.

On Saturday, February 18, 1978, some of Bay City's prettiest young ladies showed up for the 2nd annual Bay City Tire and Battery "Bikini Walk".

Almost an even dozen bikini-clad maidens braved the Michigan chill. The event had become a yearly event at Dan Mutton's Bay City Tire and Battery.

"We're just trying to make the Michigan Winters a little more bearable", saidMutton after the competition.

Patricia Kelley was judged the "Bay City Tire & Battery Bikini Walk" Winner by the overflow crowd.
Kelley walked off with a check for $50 for participating in the Winter walk-a-thon.

A standing room-only crowd in the hundreds lined the streets at 6th and Jefferson in Bay City for the 2ndAnnual walk, said Dan Mutton, Bay City Tire Owner, after the event, "It'll be even better next year."

Although there hasn't been any word since the 2nd Annual "Bikini Walk" back in 1978, the 52nd Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will continue this year in Bay City on Sunday, March 19, 2006.

The 2006 Bay City St. Pats Parade will include floats and new faces. Marching bands, pipe bands, and drill teams will march down the street led by the 2006 Parade Marshal, Mr. Thomas Newsham. Parade participants receive a thank you certificate for being in the parade. The parade has become a passage to Spring that attracts visitors from all over the state and beyond.

NOTE: This is one of a continuing seriesof flashback article to be taken from the archives of the Bay County Sports Page & Bay City Enterprise newspapers published from 1976 through 1984 by O.J. Advertising, Inc. This Publisher hopes you enjoy the time travel as much as he does! If Sports Pageand Enterprise are the grandparents of our newest arrival - mybaycity.com - then they are (as expected) very proud grandparents, indeed.
