After an exceptionally cold, snowy (and sometimes wet) start to the new year, things turned out just fine for the 65th annual Saint Patrick's Parade in downtown Bay City.
From the looks of things, the crowd was a little larger than usual. People lined both sides of Center Ave for the entire two-mile parade route. Festivities started right on time at 2:00 in the afternoon and the final entries arrived in downtown by about 4:00.
All of the "usual suspects" were in the long line of participants. The parade started with the ear-splitting parade of emergency vehicles all running their sirens at full volume. Then came politicians, the various pageant Queens, and their Courts, bands, and every organization, church, and the company you can think of. Scattered among these were dogs, horses, minicars, bikes, and even a radio-controlled car zooming around.
For the second year, the
Scotville Clown Band was featured. They've been entertaining Michigan since 1903. Like last year, the band followed the parade with a free concert at
the Historic Masonic Temple on the corner of Madison and Center. The thirty or so musicians rocked the Blue Room with fun music, antics, and lots of audience participation. Great fun for everyone. We look forward to seeing Scottville again next year!

You can also look up the clown band on YouTube or Instagram. There are lots of videos, including some from this last event.
Here's our usual collection of photos from the day. Actually, it's more than usual... there were just so many happy people! Take a look and send a link to your friends and relatives. MyBayCity.com is read worldwide. It's fun to show others how we enjoy ourselves each spring.
