ODRAM: One Day Ride Across Michigan

This particular event started a number of years ago. For the last ten years it has followed the route from Montague to Bay City. This year the ride starts a few miles north at Double JJ Resort in Rothbury and end at the Bay City State Park, where the ride has ended for the past ten years.
The event benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's (JDRF) Ride to Cure Program. Riders who raise funds for JDRF earn free kit items. More information is on the organizations' web site shown below.
The ride, which is somewhere between 147 and and 152 miles is both organized and not. Riders can follow several routes depending on what they want. The ODRAM volunteers provide stops for meals and rests, but riders decide on the details.
The organizers expect close to 500 riders this year. You can expect to see packs of 5 bikes right up to large groups. When asked what types of bikes are expected, Tom and Cindy said you can expect just about anything from high performance racers to fat tire comfort bikes.
The event may have about 500 bikers, but there are many more people involved from volunteers to individual rider support people. When the pack arrives at Bay City State Park, they expect to have near a thousand people on hand for a BBQ and party.
The registration fees are $55 to $80 depending on how early you sign up. Bus rides from the East side to the starting point and from the Finish back are available. Most folks will get themselves to those points. Many will have support teams with vans or even trailers.
The slides and talk made it clear that this is a fun event. Yes it's a lot of work, but that's part of the fun.

CLUB NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS
The club had another report on Harry Farris. Be sure to keep Harry in your thoughts. Although in town now, Harry and his wife plan to move to Arizona full time October. He hopes to make another visit to the club before leaving so he can see all his friends before leaving.
Erv Hutter reported that the RYLA students are at came and having fun.
Bob Chadwick said that the deadline for selling golf outing raffle tickets is here. If you have not turned your tickets and money in, you'll have to take it to the Chadwick's house or turn it in EARLY on the day of the event.
Links to the new Club Runner web site have been added to the front page of the old web site. Take that link and get registered then check out your detail information. The club will be cutting over to that system on July 1.
The new Club Runner dues invoices have been an e-mailed. If you have not seen that e-mail be sure to talk to treasurer Kevin Ayala.
The Tall Ship Celebration is coming to down in mid-July. We sent out an e-mail last week asking for volunteers to sign up for this Community Service opportunity.

One of the best "jobs" at Tall Ships Celebration is volunteering at the VIP tents .... this is Club Service, fun like our Club Greeter duties and you just never know who you'll greet!
I need to coordinate shifts over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 19-21 - there are tents on the East and West sides, 2 or 3 persons per shift are needed -- 1) 9:45AM - 1:15PM, and 2) 1PM - 5:00PM.
VIP Volunteers are not limited to Rotarians, but by tradition Rotary is offered the first opportunity to build more Rotary good will! You're welcome to work with a friend or family member. I have not contacted the other Bay Area clubs, but they will be given the opportunity if we cannot fill the shifts. Some of our members have already committed so....
Please let me know if you have a first, second, and third choice of days/times to work, if you wish to work more than one shift, and if you prefer East or West VIP Tent or if you're totally flexible
Let me know if another person is working with you.
You will be given a T-shirt so I need your size/s as well.

At the board's direction, these Breezes, the club web site,
and the member database will be dropped as of July 1, 2019.
Replacing these systems, used for the last fifteen years, will be the Club Runner program. If there are features of the current system that you like or rely on, be sure to ask board members or incoming administration if there will be a replacement for that feature.
