The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, has been named to Chief Executive magazine's 40 Best Companies for Leaders list for the second consecutive year.

The firm rose seven spots to number four in this prestigious annual ranking, which appears in the January/February 2013 issue.

The ranking is based on a study of 1,000 firms which scored companies based on a number of key criteria including the strength of its leadership development process and management's commitment to it, the percentage of senior management positions filled by internal candidates, the Company's reputation among its peers as a source for well-rounded talent and its financial performance.

"This ranking is a significant recognition of our longstanding global commitment to talent and leadership development at Dow," said Andrew N. Liveris, Dow's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer," adding:

"Dow already attracts the best and brightest from around the world and it is through our unique programs and performance-based culture that we continue to develop the future leaders of our company. I am proud of the collective success that has earned us this important accolade."

Dow's long history of building and nurturing a leadership pipeline through cross-functional and cross-business professional development opportunities, its focus on international-development assignments and the various structured rotational programs were cited as reasons for the Company's rise in ranking.

Dow (NYSE: DOW) combines the power of science and technology to passionately innovate what is essential to human progress. The Company connects chemistry and innovation with the principles of sustainability to help address many of the world's most challenging problems such as the need for clean water, renewable energy generation and conservation, and increasing agricultural productivity.

Dow's diversified industry-leading portfolio of specialty chemical, advanced materials, agrosciences and plastics businesses delivers a broad range of technology-based products and solutions to customers in approximately 160 countries and in high growth sectors such as electronics, water, energy, coatings and agriculture.
