Gary Riedlinger and
Eileen Curtis presented the findings of the committee charged with studying the Club's
Fund Raising and Granting process. Several weeks ago an on-line survey was distributed to members. 42 responses were received and those results were presented.
With about a 40% response, the survey did not indicate an overwhelming club preference. Most answers fell in the middle of the agree - disagree range. Comments provided the most helpful input.
After considerable time reviewing the survey, the committee felt that there was no obvious direction to take. It was decided to present
"A proposal for your consideration..." which was to focus club efforts on
"Literacy and Education of Children and Youth In Our Community".
The club had already decided to change the fund raising from a targeted amount to a more general approach. In the past the targets have become bolder than fund raising could support. Under the new plan, funds will be raised for the foundation. The Foundation Board will give the club a periodic "spendable amount" which the club will grant as it sees fit.
The concept of "Literacy and Education" raised a number of comments from club members. That was the objective. Following discussion it was decided the committee should re-open the survey and allow participants to comment again. As of this writing, ten re-takes have been received.
The discussion has continued within the committee. Results will be presented to the board, which meets April 9. The board meeting is open to all members. Anyone having input is encouraged to attend.

The Board will meet this Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
11:00 am at the Doubletree, before the regular meeting.

The Water Project Money Jugs Are Gone!
President Kim and Morning Club President Mac Quinn have met to count the money raised. The total will be announced at the Rotary Concert, but it is known that Mac will be singing for the combined audience!
It's not too late to get your tickets for the Concert. At $10 each, it may be one of the best entertainment opportunities you'll find.
Ron Bloomfield told the club that there are enough acts to fill 4 hours. The planners are compressing as much as they can but still,
the concert will start early with a pre-show at 6:20 on Thursday, April 11! You are encouraged to arrive early.
Remember that a %5 water project blue bracelet will get you a ticket for the drawing of a brand new Google Chrome laptop computer. You can buy bracelets at the meeting or at the door.
Andrea Hales is selling tickets, which are also available at the State Theatre box office or web site. Tell your friends, and family to come.
See the club web site for more information.
Remember that the
district conference is April 19 and 20 in Alpena. The club will pay half of the registration fee for members who request it.

The Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team from Korea is in Midland now and will be in Bay City for next week's meeting.
Bob Chadwick reminded everyone that he and Cindy will host a
Pizza Party at their house for the
GSE team from Korea on April 9th. Contact Bob or Cindy if you plan to come so they can order enough pizza.
Bob noted that the team's English skills are limited. Please speak slowly and with patience when you meet them.
