It is always tough the next game following an emotional win like the one Garber had last week versus Millington. Missed opportunities, mistakes and an almost unstoppable rushing attack by Frankenmuth spelled doom for the Dukes Friday night. Even with all that, Garber nearly came back from a 21 point deficit in the fourth quarter before time ran out and as the Eagles of Frankenmuth won 42-21.

Garber took the opening kickoff and immediately went on the march. Aided by Noah Bargouthy's 45 yard tackle breaking one, he got the Dukes to the Eagle's 18 yard line. However, a bench penalty against Garber moved the ball back to the thirty three. Garber drove right back to the Frankenmuth eight before the Eagle defense made the first big stop of the night inches from a first down.

After exchanging punts, Frankenmuth got their ground attack going. Pounding between the tackles, the Eagles moved the ball from their fourteen yard line to the Duke one where quarterback, Nick Volk powered the ball in and Frankenmuth was up 7-0.

With Frankenmuth slowing the Garber ground game, Garber took to the air to open things up. From the Duke eighteen, Login Martin hit CJ Glaza down the sidelines for a forty yard gain. These two hooked up a couple more times on this drive before Martin hit Brendyn Claerhout on a key fourth down to keep the drive alive at the Eagle 17. Martin and Glaza combined again before Martin dove in from the one tying the score at seven.

On Frankenmuth's following possession, the Eagles got a big momentum break. On third and eleven at midfield, Volk dropped back to pass under heavy Duke pressure. As Garber drove him back for what looked to be a certain sack, Volk blindly threw the ball where the Eagles had set up for a screen pass. Running back Brian Stearns hauled in the pass and raced 54 yards down the visitor sideline for a touchdown sending Frankenmuth into the locker room leading 14-7.

Frankenmuth took the second half kickoff and drove down the field for a score. Aided by a key third down pass over the middle good for 38 yards, Volk made it pay off with an option keep around right end for a 5 yard touchdown run making it 21-7.

On Garber's possession, a holding penalty and a sack forced a punt from their 16. A low snap that was mishandled resulted in a short punt and the Eagles were back in business on the Duke 32. Frankenmuth kept the ball on the ground finishing the drive with Jake Reinbold taking a pitch and racing 5 yards around end for the score adding to their lead at 28-7.

Garber struck right back on the first play when Martin hit Glaza for a 75 yard touchdown as the speed receiver out raced his defender helping keep Garber in the game at 28-14.

Frankenmuth's Brian Stearns made it 35-14. First he broke loose for 32 yards down the left sideline then took a screen pass from Volk 27 yards to paydirt.

The Eagle defense made a big play to extend their score on the Duke's next possession. Running the option, Martin was hit hard jarring the ball loose where Frankenmuth's Nick Szczepanski snatch it and raced 28 yards for a surprising score seeming to put the game away at the end of the third quarter, 42-14.

But the Dukes were not done yet.

Switching to the power I formation, Garber regained their rushing attack and moved the ball. Bargouthy finished off the drive breaking loose and breaking tackles down the left sideline for a 30 yard touchdown run.

The Duke defense then refused to break as Frankenmuth was able to get some first downs but the Dukes kept them out of the end zone.

Backup quarterback, Chris VanDriessche took over to keep the Duke attack going. VanDriessche scored from the three with just under three minutes in the game. He then connected with wide out Simeon Berry for a thirty one touchdown strike to move Garber within seven points at 42-35. When the onside kickoff was recovered by Frankenmuth, the Eagles had withstood the fourth quarter comeback and secured a TVC victory.

Noah Bargouthy led all rushers with 192 yards while Frankenmuth's led the Eagles with 129 yards on the ground with Jake Reinbold adding 52 yards to go along with Nick Volk's 50 yards. In the air, Garber's Login Martin was 15 for 23 for 229 yards. His favorite targets were CJ Glaza who had 8 receptions for 167 yards and Simeon Berry added 6 catches for 68 yards. Chris VanDriessche was 2 for 3 for 66 yards in the fourth quarter.

Nick Volk was 4 for 5 for 127 yards all to running back Brian Stearns good for two touchdowns.
