Having been hit hard by graduation, Western has been retooling and making strides every week. Simon Klida has emerged as the premier running back in their attack and freshman quarterback, Bruce Mann Jr. has grown each week. This week senior quarterback Cameron Pike returned from a thumb injury on his throwing hand to spearhead the attack and with Mann moving his athletic talents to the wide receiver position, the Warriors are putting together another potentially lethal attack.

Lightning struck fast for Western. After fielding the opening kickoff on their 37 yard line, Logan Smith burst through the Saginaw defense for 15 yards. Tacking on an additional 15 yards due to a penalty, it was Smith again doing the damage. He gathered in a Cameron Pike pass for a 33 yard touchdown and with Rob Vennix adding the extra point, Western was out front 7-0.

Western stopped Saginaw at midfield and after a bad punt had great field position just inside Saginaw territory. Simon Klida carried the ball to the 14 yard line but the Warriors could get no closer than the eight and settled for a Vennix 27 yard field goal making it 10-0.

On their next possession, Western went back to the ground attack. Klida broke off a 17 yard run then Nick Verity carried it to the Saginaw 21. Moments later it was Klida driving in from the two for another touchdown and a 17-0 first quarter lead.

Saginaw started driving in the second quarter ultimately making it to the Warrior 10. But the defense stiffened to stop the drive and neither team threatened the rest of the quarter making it 17-0 at the half. There was no scoring in the second half as both defenses took over the game. Western stopped Saginaw's first drive when Alex Mudd intercepted a long pass at the Western 30. On Saginaw's next possession, they drove into Western territory again but were shut down. When Western couldn't mount a drive, Saginaw was again knocking at the Warrior door. Western's senior, David Abraham, slammed it when he pounced on a fumble at the Western 6 yard line to again, turn away Saginaw preserving their 17-point lead.

In the fourth quarter, Klida and the offensive line began wearing down Saginaw. After breaking off a 20 yard run to midfield, Alex Mudd broke free for a thirty five yard touchdown run and the game was in hand at 24-0.

Saginaw tried to respond but Nick Verity and Tom Schoenherr came up big on defense stopping Saginaw's Jaylen Parham and the offense forcing a punt.

After a return to midfield, Saginaw saw some life as they recovered a fumble. But the defense again rose to the occasion as they nailed Parham for loses and soon, Western was in business on the Saginaw 37.

Bruce Mann Jr. ended any Saginaw hopes from here. First he ran the ball to the Saginaw 12 and moments later scored from the four with just over two minutes to play making the final 30-0.

Simon Klida for Western led all rushers with 153 yards on 20 carries while Saginaw's Keyon Addison rushed for 113 yards on 24 carries. Western's Cameron Pine connected six times in the air for 132 yards while Parham was limited to only 2 completions for 23 yards.

Western travels to Saginaw Heritage as they seek to stay in the Saginaw Valley race and the playoff hunt.
