Each December, the Dow Gardens in Midland opens up their Gardens to an evening show of two different events: Christmas Walk filled with carolers scattered throughout the Garden and the second event, Silent Nights a peaceful walk with music only in the conservatory.

For both events, the Dow Garden walkways are lit by luminaries with many of the trees and structural features being adorned with lights. All of this is free to the public and a great way to enhance or kick off the holiday season.

The winter white is showcased with the beautiful lights that enhance the natural beauty of the Gardens. Mother Nature provided everyone with a nice deep powdery blanket for the Christmas Walk. Local organizations and high school signers filled the air with the sweet sounds of the season. And if you didn't get enough with the Christmas Walk or you are like us and could only attend the Silent Nights, Mother Nature put a glistening touch to the surroundings with a light coating of ice, just right for a magical look.

And if all this wasn't enough, there was hot chocolate and cookies provided in the warming "barn" just about midway in the walk. This was just right to take off a bit of winter chill.

Virgin snow makes for such a peaceful scene.

While the evening winter glow is over this year, you may still enjoy a beautiful walk through their Gardens during the day. And don't forget the Whiting Forest located just down the street.

Please enjoy the night photos we captured for your holiday enjoyment.
