Ready for BACSlapper?

From exquisite, antique crystal crafted in Poland to 2012 Detroit Tigers tickets (just rows behind their dugout) to an iPad 2 and a fun vacation package, an outstanding lineup of approximately 100 silent auction items and raffle prizes await patrons of the 3rd Annual BACSlapper. They run the gamut from practical, to splurges, and nearly every niche in between.

Individual item values range from $15 to more than $1000, with a combined value of nearly $20,000. There is surely something to appeal to everyone.

And that's not all! Las Vegas style gaming options and the suspense and excitement of the $10,000 Grand Prize Cash Raffle drawing, plus five $1000 drawings, promise an adrenaline rush for the adventuresome. Cash raffle tickets are $10 each or 3/$25.

Plentiful gourmet food, drink, free valet parking and other surprises are also in store for ticket-holders, as they convene at St. John School, 619 Main Street, Essexville on Saturday, October 22. The $25 advance tickets are selling well; if any remain by Saturday evening, they will be $35 when the doors open at 6:00 p.m. Gaming action and silent auction begin at 6:30 p.m.

"The caliber and variety of silent auction items this year is really amazing," said Tim McCaffrey, 2011 BACSlapper Chair. "My phone has been ringing off the hook with people offering donations, and they are truly outstanding! You will have to come and see them to fully appreciate the array of prizes and auction pieces. Nowhere else in the Great Lakes Region will you find such awesome choices."

BACSlapper is also pleased to be introducing The Traveling Epicure, a dynamic caterer new to this area, with more than 19 years of restaurant experience. All are sure to love something on the diverse menu of treats representing various cuisines. Satisfying one's taste buds later in the evening will be easy, too, thanks to the late night breakfast buffet, featuring made-to-order omelets prepared by local favorite, Chef Jim Martini.

Additional silent auction items, game and raffle prizes recently announced include a Boyne Highlands Ski & Golf Package, an assortment of Vera Bradley bags, fine furniture accent pieces and other home decor, art in a variety of styles and forms, simple to gourmet food offerings, entertainment options, advertising packages, TVs, holiday items, tires and other car care, pampering items, landscaping features, and much, much more.

This innovative fundraising event was created by supporters and is hosted by the Bay Area Catholic Schools (BACS). It continues to grow in popularity and community favor as evidenced by the increasing number of sponsorships and auction/prize donors.

BACSlapper admission and cash raffle tickets may be purchased (while they last) at Bay City and Essexville branches of Catholic Federal Credit Union, Ideal Party Store, Paul's Flowers, Regina Caeli, Sempliners Bridal Salon & Formalwear, Tattered Pages & Tea, The Sweet Boutique, all Bay City and Essexville Catholic School and Parish offices, and the Bay Area Catholic Schools Administrative Office.

Bay Area Catholic Schools (BACS) continue the Catholic school tradition begun here in the 1850's, now providing 3-year-old preschool through 12th grade faith-based, solid academic education. BACS employs more than 50 people and functions as a 'system' of Catholic schools. BACS students provide thousands of hours of community service and outreach here in the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond. Graduates of BACS consistently score well in standardized testing, surpassing all area public school averages. BACS is spiritually and financially supported by the 13 Vicariate IV parishes.
