The Love for Lukulu Group is pleased to announce the a cappella groups who will donate their time and talents to appear at Bay City Central High School Auditorium,1624 Columbus Avenue, on Friday, April 13, 8:00 p.m. (Doors open at 7:30 p.m.)

They are:

  • From Michigan State University: Ladies First (all female group)
  • From the University of Michigan: Dicks and Janes (co-ed group)
  • From Michigan State University: State of Fifths (co-ed group)
  • From Central Michigan University: Fish N Chips (all male group)
  • From Bay City Central High School: one or more a cappella ensembles
  • From the Barbershop Harmony Society: Harbor Sounds Chorus (all male group)

This concert is a fundraiser to increase awareness of and funds to aid the poor villagers of Lukulu, Zambia, Africa.

There is no set admission for the concert but donations will be appreciated. People who are unable to attend may also contribute. Tax-deductible checks can be made payable to: CCFM 2012 Lukulu Mission and sent to: CCFM, P.O. Box 6883, Saginaw, MI 48608-6883 or brought to the concert.

A secondary purpose of the concert is to introduce modern a cappella music to the Great Lakes Bay community. For the uninitiated, a cappella is vocal music made entirely with voices and no instrumental accompaniment. While a cappella has been growing on university campuses across the country, not all high school programs encourage a cappella groups.

The Love for Lukulu group extends their appreciation to Dr. Don Clark, Mrs. Amy Hughes and Central High School for the use of the auditorium at no charge. They also are appreciative of the talented groups participating at no charge, and at their own expense for travel.
