Thomas W. Jenkins III, loved by many local musicians and fans of music, was diagnosed in 2014 with melanoma. At the young age of 41, Jenkins succumbed to his illness on June 27, 2014.

Originally from Bay City, Jenkins relocated to Grand Rapids several years ago. He leaves behind his wife of five years, Kimberly, a daughter and stepdaughter, siblings and many friends here in Bay City.

To pay tribute to the man who was an integral part of the local music scene and to help with expenses for the family, Bemo's Bar on Madison Ave. in Bay City, MI and organizer and friend of Jenkins, Brendon "Dean" Baranek put together an all-day music event in his honor.

The Thomas W. Jenkins III Benefit Show kicked off at noon on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 and featured over 10 acts from around the state, many who knew Jenkins, as well as several local musicians.

The show, which began outdoors and moved inside as night fell, suggested a $5 donation. The event included 50/50 raffles, vendors and the Brooklyn Boyz Italian Food Truck.
