The last day of 5th grade. A major accomplishment in the life of a young child. Moving on to a new school, new friends and the beginning to a whole new level of education. Fifth Graders at Bangor Lincoln Elementary in Bangor Township celebrated a little differently this past Thursday, as a member of their class, Cassidy Christie made an appearance at school.
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July"
- Firework, Katy Perry
Cassidy, a fifth-grader at Bangor Lincoln Elementary School, is facing a battle with cancer after being diagnosed in late January. Upon hearing news that Cassidy would be able to attend the last day of school, 10 year old Caelyn Ewald had an idea.
Ewald has been taking dance and gymnastic classes at Expressions in Motion and decided to honor her good friend Cassidy with a special choreographed performance. When Caelyn approached Bangor Lincoln Principal Renee Mrozinski, she thought the idea was perfect. "The dance performance was one example of a fellow classmate, Caelyn Ewald, wanting to show Cassidy how much she cares about her." said Mrozinski.

"We are all proud of Cassidy and her determination in her battle of cancer since January. The students and families of Bangor Lincoln have shown great compassion and support toward Cassidy." Mrozinski continued.
Caelyn's mom Stacy Ewald has a lot to be proud of. "What an emotional and exciting day.. I'm so proud of all of the kids. They've come together for their friend." said Ewald.
A Facebook page has been set up to follow along with Cassidy's progress.
