It was all about heritage this past Wednesday in Wenona Park. Between the dancing of the Valley Rhythm Cloggers to the traditional Irish melodies from An Dro, the park was brought to life with a wonderful fusion of Dutch and Celtic tradition.

Using classic tunes, the Valley Rhythm Cloggers used their feet and energetic style to entertain the crowd. For those who don't know, clogging is a type of folk dance in which the dancer's footwear is used musically by striking the heel, the toe, or both against a floor or each other to create audible percussive rhythms, usually to the downbeat with the heel keeping the rhythm.

After the Valley Rhythm Cloggers cleared the stage, An Dro was set to perform. And they put on quite the show for everyone in attendance.

An Dro is a union of four seasoned instrumentalists who blend the traditional and original melodies from across the globe, reaching to the past with an eye to the present and the future. The band's original works have a feel that is both ancient and modern with a dynamic range that takes you from crazy dance grooves to delicately orchestrated waltzes and airs to blazing improvisational assaults.

Make sure you get down to Wenona Park this coming Wednesday to check out both the Crooked Trees and That 60's Show, a musical production that salutes one of the most influential decades of our time, the 60's.

Wednesdays in the Park is brought to you by the Bay Arts Council. Please check their website (www.bayartscouncil.org) for local sponsors.
