Secret to Buying Bank Owned Homes Workshop on Tap 2 p.m. Saturday

About 50 exhibitors welcomed visitors to the 33rd Home Garden Lifestyle Show of the Bay County Homebuilders Association opening Friday in the Bay County Civic Arena.

The show runs today and Sunday at the arena on Shrestha Drive that normally sees only hockey players, parents and observers.

Sponsor is Clements Contracting, 3950 Wheeler Road, Bangor Township.

Eight workshops are scheduled today and Sunday, including a 2 p.m. Saturday event entitled "The Secret to Buying & Financing Bank Owned Homes" by Kim Harvey of Wolverine Bank.

  • Noon Saturday Jim Begick of Begick Nursery & Garden Center will conduct a seminar on perennials in landscapes entitled "Color That Comes Back."

  • "High Performing Homes" with Melissa Wahl of Cobblestone Homes is slated Saturday at 1 p.m.

  • "Most Common Decorating Mistakes & How to Avoid Them" will be presented Saturday at 1:30 p.m. by Rachel Belgiorno of Savvy. She will also present "Proper Use of Color in Decorating" at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and repeat her first workshop at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

  • Mr. Begick will reprise his workshop Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and Ms. Wahl will again present "High Performing Homes" Sunday at 2 p.m.

    Daily drawings are scheduled and participants may register to win a $250 gift certificate from Meijer. Drawing will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

    Kids projects are sponsored by Home Depot and Sequin Lumber.

    Home Show committee members include Bill Ruff, Laurence Smith Window & Door; Gary Nelson, Bay Landscaping; Joe LaLonde, Joe's Made in the Shade; and Ashley Clements, Clements Contracting.

    Attendees at the show receive the 2009 Bay County Homebuilders Association Membership Directory.

    Visitors browse through the Home Show that opened at 4 p.m. Friday and concludes Sunday afternoon.

    This is a very positive move for our community. I hope we are able to draw people in from all outlying areas around the tri-cities for various events at the Civic Arena. Visitors spend time and money when in the area, and help all of the businesses they visit. The arena is a significant asset and the more it can be utilized the better.
