Budget friendly family nights are becoming popular as local restaurants try to ease the pinch of a tight economy. Families are treated to free or discounted kids' meals in an effort to boost sales on an otherwise slow night for the establishment.

One restaurant taking advantage of this strategy is Buffalo Wild Wings in Bay City. Not only do they provide kids' meals at a discounted rate on Wednesday nights, but they also provide entertainment and ice cream. An arts and crafts table is set up for little ones who like to color or create a weekly craft demonstrated by an employee. On alternating weeks you will either find a face painter adorning the children's faces with little works of art or a balloon artist making animals, swords, or even a Spider-Man.

Balloon Artist, Cameron Zvara creates of variety of animals to amaze the children.

General Manager, Brad Lone, says that the restaurant started family night shortly after opening and they are continually finding ways to make it better. "At times we like to change it up because people get bored, so we add things like arts and crafts," says Lone, "It is a great incentive for families to eat out." The last Wednesday of the month Buffalo Wild Wings has a prize give-a-way for one lucky child. Past prizes have included an iPad, baseballs, scooters, and sleds.

Beyond the savings, family nights can also take the stress off of a mom or dad with an active child. If your little one has an eye for exploration and not much need for sitting patiently for their food, you are more apt to get a look of understanding than disapproval because the family at the table next to you is probably going through the same thing. If you couple this with a staff that is trained to work with children, it will make your experience much more enjoyable. Lone makes note that, "We train our staff that kids are guests and we treat them like one."

If you think that taking your family out to dinner is out of budget or you're avoiding it because your two-year-old refuses to sit still, a family night may be just the right option. Check out the list below to see if your favorite restaurant is hosting a family night near you.
