With week five of Michigan Idol Season 4 complete, there are only 5 weeks left until the Schwinn Hope 50cc scooter is given away. That means that this coming week (5/16/12) is your last chance to enter the competition in order to qualify for the grand prize.

If you're thinking about entering the competition, or even if you just want to come check out the local talent, make sure you arrive early. "We get here every week at 7 o'clock," said Heather Emmons, a former judge in Season 4, "just to make sure we have somewhere to sit!" The Willew Lounge in Bay City is always packed wall to wall every Wednesday night, making it a perfect place for anyone to put on a showcase for the judges.

This week was limited to only five total contestants, but the competition was fierce between them. Travis Paten, a Willew favorite, performed Toby Keith's American Soldier, but only after taking a moment to honor his friend. "I just want to take a minute to thank Shane (Roth)," said Patten, grabbing the attention of everyone in attendance, "he served in Iraq for two years, and this song is for him!"

The audience ate up Paten's performance, as they always do, and the judges seemed to agree. "I don't care who you are, you're not American if that song doesn't give you goose-bumps!" exclaimed Season 3 winner and Season 4 judge Joey Atchinson.

Jesse Fisher finished off the night with his powerful rendition of Gary Jules' Mad World. Fisher wasn't excited to follow Paten's fantastic and heartfelt performance, "I have to follow that?" Fisher protested.

But the judges didn't seem to mind, as they were all praise for Jesse. "You can do anything man," said judge Josh Novak, "you go from screaming one week to the slow stuff the next. Great job, man."

With the limited number of qualifying competitors coming in to the second half of Season 4, there's still a great chance for newcomers to win the competition. The prize this seasons is the 50cc Schwinn Hope scooter courtesy of Stevens Cycle Sales in Bay City.

Michigan Idol is a ten (10) week competition that ends on June 13th, 2012. Contestants must be present no less than 5 times in order to qualify to win the grand prize. The contestant's top five scores will be combined on the final night to determine the winner.
