This "No Twinkie" Thing Has Gone Far Enough

Remember back a few months ago when there was a big "flap" about the Twinkie company going out of business.

What happened . . . Is that the Twinkie "Workers" told the Twinkie "Owners" that they wanted more money to continue to make Twinkies.

Owners said "NO."

Workers said "We Strike."

Owners said . . . "So Be It" . . . and closed the Twinkie Factory.

I figured that the two sides would work it out. But it hasn't rolled out that way.



And . . . here's the point of my column . . . IT'S NOT JUST TWINKIES.

Snowballs

Hostess Cupcakes

Hostess Fruit Pies

Purple Ketchup

I'm not much of a "Snowball" person and Wonderbread is definitely a Flashback Food from my younger days. But Hostess Cupcakes and Hostess Fruit Pies are on top of the "Quality Calorie" list at the Cunningham house.

If you're watching what you eat (and who isn't these days) . . . Hostess products -- especially a cherry fruit pie -- is one of the only choices for me when it's time to wolf down 500 calories of meaningless sugar. (If you're not inclined to drive thru for a Cheese-Double-Cheese from Rally's.)

THE BEST 500 CALORIES -- EVER!!

You Hostess Workers and Hostess Owners gotta get together and work things out. Seriously . . . This can be fixed. And if you can't work it out . . . Just sell the secrets to somebody else . . . and let them bake all of the sweet treats.

Quite honestly . . . I don't care how it gets done . . . I need a damn Hostess Cherry Pie . . . AND . . . I NEED IT NOW!!

My multiple attempts at trying to recreate Twinkies and cupcakes (the filling is the hardest part), have produced blobs of yellow and chocolate or indiscernible shapes! As far as the pies go....... I can't find the right kind of lard to make the crust so fattening, that it requires a surgical staff on standby! Oh Hostess! I can only eat so much health food! We need you!
