Chris "Slats" Slater has been named as the new coach of the Tri City Icehawks according to a news release from Colleen Dore, Owner/GM
Tri City Icehawks.
Slater will be officially introduced to fans and media on Wednesday, May 12 at 5:00 pm at the Bay County Civic Arena, Home of the IceHawks.
Slater has played 7 years pro at the ECHL, AHL level, British Super League and English Elite League. For the past two seasons he has been the head coach of the Western Michigan University "Stallions" a Division 1 member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
Slater guided the 2008-9 "Stallions" to their first National Tournament appearance in ten years. Specializing in Power Skating, Chris also serves as the Michigan Director for Robby Glantz Power Skating, Inc. Chris started his coaching career as a player / assistant, while a member of the 2001-02 Toledo Storm. He later marketed and directed a number of very successful hockey development programs in both the US and Europe. His passion for developing talent coupled with his approach and ability to understand today?s athlete make him among the best in the business.
