Rather I believe prior to the Internet and news media 24/7 outlet's Africia and other 3rd world country's were living in the "stone age". Furthermore, foreign exchange students have seen other parts of the world and available opportunities. In summary, all mankind what's to improve his/her life style once they become aware of things called "dreams".
