This article and photograph of the "Edmund Fitzgerald"
really brought me back in time. You can picture the open hatches where the iron ore was stowed below. It would make sense that when enough wave water filled the deck and it flowed down into the open hatches below, the vessel would eventually sink. I'm a musician and a songwriter (www.lubolink.com). When I play Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald", it is a very special feeling imagining her sinking with 29 souls aboard.
